This weekend we welcomed the whole of the East Coast to Dun Laoghaire for our home regatta. Thanks to year-on-year growth across the sport, this was our biggest regatta yet, with 85 crews from 9 clubs, spread across 13 races.
For the first time ever, we had 11 sets of start ropes and turning cans! St. Michael’s entered a whopping 15 crews, which was matched by just one other club, and exceeded by none. With 5 podium finishes, the Dun Laoghaire crews certainly did themselves proud too. Continue reading St. Michael’s Regatta 2014 – Report

Back to more familiar territory this week, with the short hop over the county line to Bray, a favourite course of many of our rowers. We had 13 crews spread across 10 of the 12 races on the card, with 6 sets of medals for our troubles.

This week saw the ‘Dún Laoghaire’ make the long trip north to the wilds of Skerries, for this new club’s first regatta (2013 was called off due to weather). For many of our gang it was the first trip to the North Dublin town, but hopefully not the last.

Wow! A productive day at the office in Ringsend. We had a season high of 11 crews entered, with several first-time rowers, and it was certainly worth the short trip from Dun Laoghaire. The great streak of weather continued, with another scorcher for our hosts St. Patrick’s R.C. to work with.

The first of two back-to-back regattas in Ringsend saw St. Michael’s return to winning ways in style!
Again, it was the first race that brought medals, but this time it was the turn of our Senior Ladies, who won a hotly-contested Silver. Having led the race into the turn, the home crew stole pole position, leaving our girls to fight out a photo finish with a very strong Arklow crew. Continue reading Stella Maris Regatta 2014
With the previous week’s Arklow Regatta having been called off due to high seas, today’s Dalkey Regatta became the first of the season. And what a change in the weather! It was a scorcher in Sandycove, and a great afternoon’s racing and relaxing on the grass for rowers and supporters alike. Continue reading Dalkey Regatta 2014
We sent two crews, mens and ladies, to this year’s Ocean to City, a gruelling 28km rowing race from the mouth of Cork Harbour to the heart of Cork City. There were hundreds of entrants and dozens of boat types, including 3 other East Coast skiffs from St. Patrick’s R.C. and Bray R.C. Continue reading Ocean to City 2014
