St. Michael’s Regatta 2015

This year on Sunday July 19th, St Michael’s will host Round 6 of the 2015 East Coast Rowing Council regatta trail. The event will take place at the West Pier behind Salthill and Monkstown Dart Station. Find us on the map here.

The first race will commence at 11am sharp. Prime viewing spots are along the grassy knoll just beside the car park. Have a look at some photos from last year’s Regatta on our Facebook page for a reminder!

Getting There

By DART:

The closest DART Station to the event is Salthill and Monkstown. Check here for DART times.

By Bus:

The area is well serviced by a number of buses. The no. 7 bus stops in Monkstown and is a 5 – 10 minute walk to the event. Alternatively many routes serve Dunlaoghaire (45a, 46a, 75, 63) and are only a short walk away.

By Car:

Those towing skiffs should take the left turn leading down to West Pier and continue
down the single carriageway road towards West Pier. From there, follow the road around to the Shell Site at the back of West Pier where parking is available. Further parking is available at the Salthill/Monkstown Dart Station for those arriving later.

The draw will take place at 10am followed by the cox’s meeting at 10:30am.

Services and Amenities

On the day, Brian Buckley Burgers and the Crepe Box will be on site to feed the masses! There are plenty of other tasty spots closeby too. A 5 – 10 minute walk will bring you to Monkstown Village where you’ll find Spar, Insomnia Coffee and a range of other cafes. There’s even an Avoca which sells the Poulet Bonne Femme – voted number 1 in the top 10 sandwiches in Dublin by the guys in Lovin Dublin! For those with a sweet tooth, 10 minutes the other direction towards Dunlaoghaire will bring you to Scrumdiddleys where you’ll find an impressive selection of ice cream and treats.

2014 was our biggest regatta to date with 85 crews from 9 clubs taking part on the day. Similar numbers are anticipated this year for a great day out. Everyone is welcome so please bring along your family and friends to cheer us on!
