Amazing evening for the Michaels, who stepped out of the boats and welcomed Niall O'Toole, who helped us pull like dogs! Not just as lonely wolves, but as a pack! Those who row, will understand this. The others, have you considered giving rowing a try? 💪 😉 @CrewClass is a fantastic programme for body fitness and endurance for all ages, rowers and non-rowers alike! Thank you @Niall O'Toole for two great sessions! #rowing #thosewhorowknow #fitness #dunlaoghaire

A day of training in Sun Laoghaire (pun intended)

A couple of different angles to how we train. A view from the West Pier, where thousands of people see us in action every day. And a view from the very bow of the boat, making its way to the point of many turns. Skiff rowing is part of our identity as a club, and as we prepare for our annual Hobbler's Challenge (a 28km race), we invest in training both rowers and club members who are interested in learning the art of steering a boat. And what a brilliant day for it ! ☀️ Dunlaoghaire Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership Dún Laoghaire Town Dun Laoghaire Marina DLR Tourist Information Centre

,

This morning the Michaels organised a beach clean at the West Pier in Dun Laoghaire. Our club has committed to stop the use of single use plastic water bottles. This was voted on at our last agm. The club is working to maintain the marine/local environment and today was the first of many beach cleans. Every little helps and, in our case, every little one helped. ❤ Thank you to our members and their families. 💚💚💚 #cleanbeaches #dunlaoghaire #environment

The fabulous St. Michael's mixed crew who will be entering the Celtic Challenge during the May bank holiday. They will be rowing a traditional East-Coast wooden Irish skiff across the Sea - the St. Michael, built in 1999 - and we could not be more proud of them. ❤🙌👏 If you'd like to support them, you can easily do so at the link below: https://www.ifundraise.ie/1141_st-michael-s-rowing-club--dun-laoghaire.html?fbclid=IwAR1t020cu4j0XDf2ZSqbw_9mm9P7DYD9fAeCEXATPs1pwmJa6wjNuz2pw80

Our new boat is home!😍 Many thanks to Chris, Ger and Steve who kindly drove down to Cornwall to bring her home. We are really grateful for your effort (and slightly jealous about the delicious cornish pasties you had, courtesy of the Hunkin family.😋) This would not have been possible without the sustained effort, perseverance, skill and team work of our club members. Thank you to those involved in writing the successful grant application: Amy, Hilary, Martin, and to everyone on the 'new boat subcommittee': Chris, Colm, Ger, Mark and Steve. And, of course, huge thank you to Louis Hunkin for building the boat and entrusting her to us. We will soon post details about the official launch ceremony so watch this space.
