Howdy Rowers,
I trust the training is going well. Next week see’s the last week of training before the Arklow Regatta on Sunday 27th May. Amy will be doing the schedule this Friday, so please get your availability in before 5pm on Friday evening. You will see that the availability sheet has been re-organised to help race crews and potential race crews synchronize their availability!
School of Coxes
Our expert resident cox and safety king, Neil Dennehy, has organised a free coxing tutorial next Thursday 24th May @ 8.15pm at the DMYC HQ at the bottom of the West Pier. The course will cover the basics of coxing, both training crews and racing fundamentals. Please let Neil Dennehy know if you are coming by texting 0879267438. I know many of you enquired about learning the basics of coxing so i hope you will be present at the meeting.
BAG PACKING
Lastly, we need more a lot more members to put their name down for the bag packing session on the 9th & 10th of June. The deadline for putting your name down on the bag packing list is Tuesday 23rd May. It will only take 2hrs from your weekend. This is a key fundraiser for the club which should generate an estimated €1k if we get full participation over the two days. The dates are sought after by many other local sprots clubs as we had to secure them back as far as January. If we don’t get enough numbers and have to cancel a day this will affect our fundraising target for the year and the possibility of getting two days from the next year. SO GET YOUR NAME DOWN AND LET’S PAY FOR THAT NEW BOAT WE HAVE ORDERED!
Oar Maintenance Day
Don’t forget you can give a helping hand getting the oars we have in ship-shape Saturday 19th May from 10am-12 noon.
Have a good weekend,
