Happy Valentine’s you Sexy Rowers!
Here’s some news to warm your cold black hearts – thanks to the hard work of committee members and maintenance grafters we could have a boat back in the water and ready to row very soon. In fact, if all goes according to plan we’re hoping to have a schedule sheet up next week for
winter rowing
on the weekend of 24th and 25th February.
The times will be:
Saturday 1-2pm
Sunday 11am – 12pm and 12-1pm
The email with the link to put zeros in for winter rowing will be going out ONLY to people who have done the magical combo of:
1) Paying up last year’s subs
2) Doing 10+ hours of maintenance
REMINDER: IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID LAST YEAR’S SUBS, YOU WILL NOT BE PUT ON 2018 ROWING AVAILABILITY SHEETS
To pay subs: Please put your rowing initials as the reference.
Do you need to pay in 2, 3 or 4 instalments? Not a problem – contact Treasurer (Dave) or Membership Sec (Deanna)

Ste Ring, our resident Maintenance Maestro is more revolutionary than Che Guevara. Who knew?! They’ll be making T-shirts with his face on in years to come… Ste has come up with a new idea about how to run maintenance, and we’d like to put it out to you all to get your feedback and opinions on it.
No way of doing things is going to be perfect, or suit everyone, but if we can gather as much input, as many potential pitfalls, points or view and all that jazz, we can see if this is likely to be a goer.
Ste’s revolutionary plan is this:
“We would like to make a change to the way we approach maintenance in the future. The changes will make it quicker, faster and fairer to all of our members. We would like to to roll it out next winter. It will work like boat duty. Two crews will be allocated a boat to sand and varnish. With 8 people working on a boat it should only take 4 nights and 2 Saturdays. That will be your maintenance commitment for the year.
For example senior men and senior lady’s will take the Eileen on Mondays in October with 2 Saturdays.
Inter men and women will take the Michael on Wednesdays in October.
Two boats finished by the end of October.
The same in November.
Structural work can be carried out in December.
Maintenance will start back in January with four crew’s finishing the last two boats. Novice crews can help with oars and other small maintenance jobs.
It’s a very simple and fair approach. Your feedback is important, it’s your club. Thanks Stephen.”
