Cometh the Hour, Cometh the Crew! Below is the provisional crew listing for the oncoming 2018 regatta season. The selection committee made up of 6 people, comprising Captain Chris Greene, Gareth Whittington, David Cullen, Stephen Ring, Mel Mardon, & Amy Smith had an extremely tough job this year trying to accommodate everybody as the best they could.
The main challenge of this year is the year on year growth and experience of our competitive rowing members with only a finite amount of racing crews in each division allowed. This is great from an overall club point of view because it means that we have very strong crews for each division (…something we haven’t always had the pleasure of…). The downside of this is that not everybody can be accommodated in racing crews because of the numbers and this is something that hasn’t always been the case in years gone past as our club was smaller. Our aim is to try and get as many people rowing who want to and balance that with being competitive in each category.
A couple of points to note:
· Novice crews have not been selected yet. We have compiled a list of novices who completed the regatta availability sheet and will be mixing and matching them until a week before Arklow regatta on 26th May when the novice crews will be announced.
**If you are new to the club and want to race but don’t see your name on the list below please fill out the regatta availability sheet so we know when your available to race and contact Chris Greene , or failing that anybody on the selection committee to let them know.
· The crews are provisional, so if you are making an effort to train with your crew we will change the crew and due to the surplus number of experienced rowers this year, we have replacements that can step in so be warned!!!!!
· If you are unhappy with your crew, please be patient and at least train a few weeks before committing Hari Kari. Please let Chris Greene know of your issues beforehand, however be aware that every effort has been made this year by the selection committee to accommodate crews and personalities within those crews. So if you are unhappy, the previous point may apply and you may run the risk of not being able to be accommodated elsewhere.
· Coxes for race crews have not been assigned but will be decided closer to Arklow regatta. You may request a certain cox for racing season however this may be rejected as the ultimate decision lies with the selection committee.
